Client spotlight: Mia Davis, owner, Mikko Sushi

June 13, 2023 | 1 minute read

Resiliency through a time of change

Mia Davis is the owner of Mikko Sushi, a chain of three restaurants in the San Diego, CA area. Mia came to the United States when she was 20 years old with limited English proficiency. She worked nights and weekends as a server (at one of the sushi restaurants she now owns) to support her family as a single mother.

Mia shares how she:

  • Returned to school to understand the financial side of the business after “failing miserably” at her first two restaurant ventures
  • Opened a restaurant in February 2020 and had to learn how to use social media to connect with local groups and customers to keep her business afloat

As a Bank of America client for more than 14 years, Mia credits her Small Business Administration (SBA) loan1 for helping make her “American dream come true.”

1. Small Business Administration (SBA) financing is subject to approval through the SBA 504 and SBA 7(a) programs. Loan terms, collateral and documentation requirements apply.
